5 out of 5 stars
A quick audiobook coming in at just over 3 hours. But what a wonderful way to spend 3 hours!
This novella is one I would put on the science fiction/ horror shelf and blends the two genres effortlessly. The premise, of using virtual reality ( and a pharmaceutical cocktail) to address and treat psychological ailments is both believable and terrifying. While this story didn't get bogged down in the science as I find happens often in the S.F. genre, it was still the science ( and it's present day believability) that really pushed the horror factor over the top. The fact that it would not be a stretch to see this type of "treatment" actually being utilized should be nightmare inducing.
The writing was, in my opinion, excellent and rather poetic at times. The characters were surprisingly well developed in such a short piece and overall I was left satisfied but still hungry for more.
A excellent read/listen!
