This was one of the best ghost stories I have read in a really long time! It is a prequel novella and I fully intend to read the rest of this series. It takes place in an English mining town that seems to be completely haunted...all of it. 

Two psychic mediums arrive just before Christmas, on the 100 year anniversary of a horrible tragedy, to help  the residents, both living and dead, to move on.

The creepy atmosphere was perfectly done and the slow burn pacing was just what the story needed. I missed reading this at Christmas by about a month but do foresee it being an annual read. I really enjoyed the world building and character development. For me, there were no flat characters and even though there were plenty of them each was unique and important to the story.
