Have you ever finished a book and thought.....what the Hell did I just read???? That was my experience with White Trash Gothic.
I love character driven stories and while there were plenty of characters in the book....they were all very over the top and( thankfully) I was unable to relate to any of them. Combine oddly unrelatable characters  with sexual torture porn and gratuitous violence thrown in every few pages and you'll have a pretty good idea of what this book is.

I do struggle to find any written works of horror that scare me, but have found that gothic, atmospheric books tend to be my favorite and I had high hopes for this one. I was aware of the authors reputation for " extreme horror" and am not opposed to sexual situations in my literature . I was willing to give this one a try hoping for a gothic, spooky atmosphere. I was disappointed.

No book is completely without redeeming factors and this one did have some. The characters were so over the top that I found myself continuing to read in the bizarre hope that I would eventually find someone to relate to...even a secondary character ..that did not happen. There must have been something to the writing however, because I did finish the book.

Will I continue and read books 2 and 3 of this series....not right now and most likely not ever.

On to the next!
